## Overview

Class 5 Maths introduces students to a lot of new topics and concepts which will help in creating a strong mathematical base. The Fish Tale chapter begins with giving the students a basic understanding of Size and Shapes and quantities of measurements of different things. Similarly, Shapes and Angles chapter covers the various angles of objects. Further, students will become familiar with the concept of perimeter and area of various shapes as well as fractions in Maths of Class 5. In addition to linear, reflectional, and rotational symmetry of matters, Maths of Class 5 also deals in number patterns and their application in our lives. The multiples and factors of a number plus multiplication and division of numbers are also included in the syllabus along with the use of fractions and decimals. Moreover, the chapter Mapping Your Way will be very useful in real life by helping students with mapping and scaling. Maths for Class 5 will also explain the visualization of 2D and 3D objects through the chapter of Boxes and Sketches. Further, it contains a chapter dealing with dimensions of diverse shapes and sizes. Finally, it teaches how to measure the volume and weights of objects which will come in handy in the future.

### Chapter 2 : Shapes and Angles

Are you aware of the types of shapes that you observe in the things around you? What is the shape of your mobile phone or the laptop screen? Is a coin circular in shape? All these figures include angles in between their sides or curves. Let's study more about the shapes in maths and the angles in our real lives.

### Chapter 3 : How Many Squares

Suppose one day your uncle gives you 2 chocolates and says the bigger chocolate is for you and the smaller is one for your younger sister. How do you decide which chocolate is bigger or smaller? The answer to this questions can be found by studying the topic '' How Many Squares '' in detail.

### Chapter 4 : Parts and Whole

Can you cut a cake into eight equal pastries? Or a pizza into two unequal parts? Well, we cannot eat them as a 'whole'. There are numerous day-t0-day applications which require dividing things into parts. Let's start more about the parts and wholes in this section.

### Chapter 5 : Does it Look the Same?

When you see yourself in a mirror, does it look the same to you? Yes, in a plane reflective mirror, objects appear exactly the same. But can you also tell the line of symmetry of an object, say a spherical ball? Well, let's study more about the linear, reflectional and rotational symmetry in this section.

### Chapter 6 : Be My Multiple, I'll be Your Factor

Chintan's mom gave have Rs. 15 and asked him to buy whatever he wished to buy with that money. When Chintan went to the store, he decided to buy white and dark chocolate. But he didn't know how to buy both dark and white chocolate within those Rs. 15. Let us help him by learning more about a factor and multiples!

### Chapter 7 : Can you see the Pattern?

Look at these numbers carefully. 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, ... Can you see the pattern here? These numbers are in certain patterns and here each number doubles each time. Observing patterns can solve problems and has many applications in our daily lives. To understand this in a more better way, let us scroll the article below.

### Chapter 8 : Mapping Your Way

What do you if you are lost somewhere and you need to find your way? You use GPS Isn’t it?  GPS  is nothing but the Global Positioning System,  which uses maps to guide us to know any location. But what exactly are maps? Let us study this chapter mapping your way in more detail.

### Chapter 9 : Boxes and Sketches

Gifts must be anyone's favourite things! So basically our favourite things come in Boxes. We can make boxes of the desired size and shape by joining squares and rectangles of corresponding sizes. In this chapter, we will learn about the relationship between 2D and 3D objects and how to visualise the objects.

### Chapter 10 : Tenths and Hundredths

A Tenth of a decimal number is the value that we get when we divide the number by 10. Similarly, Hundredth is the value we get when it is divided by 100. Understanding the use of these fractions is very important because you will come across their applications in day to day life.

### Chapter 11 : Area and its Boundary

Do you ever wonder what the area of a notebook that you use for study? Is it a square or a rectangle? And how would you measure the length of its boundary? And have you seen a carpeting measuring the dimensions of a wooden block? Let's study more about the area and its boundary.

### Chapter 12 : Smart Charts

In today's big data world, it is very important that you organise and present your data properly. Without it, the data collected cannot give you a good interpretation. Representing data in charts can help in identifying and solving your problems. Let's find out more.

### Chapter 13 : Ways to Multiply and Divide

Do you know that we use multiplication and division many times in our daily lives? Suppose your birthday is coming soon and you want to get chocolates. You will have to multiply how much chocolates each of your friends are getting. To understand this concept let us read this article.
