Class 9

CBSE

Class 9 Maths begins with the first chapter of Number Systems which contains rational numbers, irrational numbers, and more. Further, Polynomials will discuss polynomials and degrees of polynomials. It also teaches the theorems relating to them. Next, there is Coordinate Geometry which will cover Distance formula, Section formula and all about the area of triangles and quadrilaterals. Linear Equations in Two Variables teaches how to solve two variables in a single equation. Next, Introduction to Euclid’s Geometry as the name suggests is all about Euclid’s postulates, axioms, conjectures and more. Lines and Angles will teach students about geometry, lines and the various types of angles. After that, we have Triangles which will make you learn about the properties of triangles, Pythagoras theorem, basic proportionality theorem and others. The chapter of Quadrilaterals will discuss everything about them from their properties to their theorems. Area of Parallelograms and Triangles is about calculating the area of these two shapes. Similarly, Circles will discuss arc, tangents, cyclic quadrilaterals and more. Constructions is a chapter teaching how to construct triangles, segments, tangents and more. Heron’s Formula teaches to measure the surface area of a triangle while Surface Area and Volumes are about the same of different shapes like cubes, cylinders and more. Finally, Statistics and Probability will teach about mean, median, mode and more.

Real Numbers? So you must be wondering, aren't all numbers real? Are there unreal numbers? Well, let us solve your confusion right here. The easiest way to remember is that if the number can be put on a number line, it is a real number. Let's find out some more interesting concepts about real numbers:

Polynomials are mathematical expressions with any number of variables and coefficients. Polynomials find applications in various fields of Maths and Science. Polynomials have their own set of laws and rules for arithmetics. In this chapter, we will learn everything about polynomial and its applications.

When was the last time you asked for directions to reach somewhere? Don't we all just use the GPS and navigation on our phones? So what if I told you, that we wouldn't have these amazing tools without coordinate geometry! The grids of latitudes and longitudes we use for GPS are completely based on Coordinate Geometry.

Linear equations are frequently applied in our daily lives. You must have come across the famous mangoes and oranges problems. And do you know how to solve them? Well, in this section we will learn about what are and how to solve a pair of linear equations in two variables, as well as the consistency of equations.

Confused with words like Axioms, Theorems and Conjectures? Want to know what Geometry is? Here, we travel to ancient Alexandria and meet one of the most important humans in the history of the world, Euclid. Let us begin this journey of shapes and the history of mathematics and geometry.

Do you remember what was the first thing you did with a pencil when you were a kid? Surely drawing random lines, isn't it? Let us try understanding the concept of lines in mathematics. In this lesson, we will also learn what is an angle and its types. So let us study lines and angles all together.

How do you think the scientists measured the height of Mount Everest? Do you think they went about it with a tape measure? Well of course not. They probably used many fascinating concepts in Geometry. Let's learn here some of these interesting concepts about Triangles...

The first things that we tend to understand about objects that we see are colour and shape. In many instances, we understand the function of certain objects by seeing their shapes. Thus, it is important to understand elementary shapes. Let's study the topics in this section.

Geometry is the study of shapes and sizes and relative positions and proportions of objects. Constructions of shapes is a tricky but very important part of Geometry. It is difficult to understand because construction is done step by step. If you miss or do any of the steps wrong, you end up with something vague.

We live in a three-dimensional world. The room you are sitting in can be described by these dimensions. A football would eventually burst if you forcefully try to pump in more air than required. The dimensions and capacities of these objects can be measured by studying its Surface Area and Volume.

Statistics is all around you. Did you know there are so many daily things in your life that are made easy and exciting by statistics? Without statistics, you wouldn't have all the stats on your favourite football payer, or track your progress in your exams, or have weather forecasts etc.

Did you know the origins of Probability can be linked to gambling? The theory of probability may have been discovered to help gamblers, but now it assists many of our everyday activities. The chances of your school team winning the tournament, the possibility of rain on a given day, are all applications of probability.
