# Advanced Knowledge of Conduction

Physics

## definition

### Conduction

Conduction is heat transfer between two bodies in contact and at different temperatures. It usually occurs between solids. Heat transfer by conduction is a slow process.

## definition

### Thermal conductivity

Thermal conductivity is defined as the rate at which heat passes through a specified material, expressed as the amount of heat that flows per unit time through a unit area with a temperature gradient of one degree per unit distance.()) and /() are some units of thermal conductivity.

## example

### application of thermal conductivity in daily life

Thermal conductivity is actually about the conduction of heat or transfer of heat.
Here are the some examples
1) A ice cube is melted in your hand because the heat from your hand transfer to the ice resulting in it's melting
2) Pouring of hot tea in a cup will make the cup of the also warm because of the heat transfer from tea to the cup.
3)Transfer of heat from iron to shirt while pressing is also a good example.
4) Transfer of heat during cooking to the food.
