Effects of smoking on heart

  • Toxic substances like nicotine, carbon etc., get deposited on the inner walls of the blood vessels that carry blood to the heart.
  • This leads to formation of plaque which eventually damages the heart muscle leading to heart attack.


Effects of smoking on digestive system

  • Smoking causes heart burn, delays healing of peptic ulcer, increases risk of ¬†Crohn's disease and formation of gallstones.
  • It causes stomach cancer.


Effects of smoking on reproductive system

  • In women, smoking creates imbalance in estrogen hormone and reduces blood blood to genital organs. Smoking increases the chances of abortion, miscarriage, premature birth and foetal death.
  • In men, smoking causes damages to male reproductive system and develop high risk of impotency.


Effect of nicotine on health

  • It stimulates the release of adrenaline which increases the¬†blood pressure.
  • Increase in blood pressure leads to heart diseases.
  • In pregnant women, it causes retardation and abnormal growth of the foetus.
  • In males, it produces infertility.
