The Portuguese man o' war (Physalia physalis), also known as the man-of-war, bluebottle, or floating terror. It is found in the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean. It has a transparent jelly-like body. But, this invertebrate is not a jellyfish though it superficially looks like jellyfish. It belongs to order the Siphonophorae whereas jellyfish belong to Forcipulatida. Unlike regular jellyfishes, it is a colonial organism made up of smaller units called zooids. Each zooid has a different function of catching prey, digestion and reproduction.

Fathers Who Give Birth
For most animals, giving birth is a female's responsibility. But definitely, this 'childbirth thing' does not hold applicable to all creatures. In the animal kingdom, the male seahorse is the one who gets pregnant. The male seahorse is equipped with a pouch on his front side. During mating season, the female seahorse deposits the eggs in the male's abdominal pouch, where they are fertilized. The male seahorse holds the eggs until they are hatched and then he expels them out in the water.

Do Snake Dances to the Music?
We have seen snakes showing movement on the music played by the snake charmers. So do you think snake loves to hear music and dances on the tune? At the same time, some people also believe that snakes are charmed or hypnotized as they hear music from a snake charmer's flute. Believe it not, in reality, snakes do not have external ears and thus, they can't hear like how we hear the sound. The snake charmer continuously sways the flute and the snake moves to the swaying movement and not on hearing the music.

Camel Stores Water in their Hump?

The feature is also used for body temperature regulation. However, camels can indeed spend long periods between drinks of water. They drink a large amount of water at a time that gets stored and processed in their bloodstream.

All Mammals are not Same
Usually, in mammals the fertilization is internal and most mammals are viviparous. But not all, there are some exceptions. Monotremes are egg-laying mammals that are strictly found in Australia and New Guinea. The characteristic that distinguishes monotremes from other mammals is that they lay eggs, monotremes lactate, but lack nipples. Examples of monotreme are the Echidna and Platypus. Another type of mammal is marsupials. Marsupial mammals are endemic to Australia and America. The characteristic that distinguishes them from placentals is that they give birth to underdeveloped embryos that innately climb into the mother's pouch. The most common marsupials are kangaroos, koalas, opossums, and wombats.
