Comparing Combination of Capacitors to the Combination of Resistors.

We all are surrounded by several electronic devices in our daily life.

For example, mobile chargers, laptop chargers, CFL, Tubelights, a fan speed controller, etc.

And in these devices, many resistors are used to control the required amount of current.

It is a passive electrical component to create resistance in the flow of electric current.

Just like the resistor, a capacitor is also a passive electronic device which is used to store the electrical energy in an electric field.

It is used in all fans, coolers, etc. to store the electrical energy.

The capacity to store the electrical energy is called the capacitance of the capacitor.

Hence, in order to increase the value of capacitance, combination of more than one capacitor is used.

Now, we will see the similarities and differences between the combination of resistors and combination of capacitors.

Let's compare the combination of capacitors and combination of resistors.

The resistance of the resistor is calculated by the formula.

And the capacitance of the capacitor is calculated by the formula.

As we combine the capacitors to increase the value of capacitance.

Similarly, to increase the value of resistance, we combine more than one resistors.

Suppose there are three resistors connected in series.

Now, the total resistance in the circuit will be calculated as,

And now, suppose there are three capacitors are connected in series.

So, the total capacitance in the circuit will be calculated as,

Now, suppose there are three resistors connected in parallel.

So, the total resistance in the circuit will be,

Now, suppose there are three capacitors connected in parallel.

So, the total capacitance in the circuit will be calculated as,

Hence, by comparing, we can say that the total resistance in series combination is calculated as the total capacitance in parallel combination.

And the total resistance in parallel combination is calculated as the total capacitance in series combination.

Here, R is directly proportional to V. and C is inversely proportional to V. that's why series and parallel combination are different

Hence, this is the comparison between the combination capacitors and a combination of resistors.

On comparing, the total resistance in series combination is calculated as the total capacitance in parallel combination.
