Earth receives energy from the Sun in form of ultraviolet, visible, and infrared radiation

About 26% of the incoming solar energy is reflected to space by the atmosphere and clouds, and 19% is absorbed by the atmosphere and clouds

In atmosphere there are certain gases which absorbs this heat or solar energy and again reradiates in all direction

With increasing concentration of these gases, the amount of absorption and reradiation of heat also increases, and thereby further warms the atmosphere as well as earth's surface

These gases are called Greenhouse gases and the heating effect they produce is what we called as Greenhouse Effect
