What are the characteristic features of the Kingdom Fungi?
Characteristic features of the kingdom Fungi:
(a) Fungi includes
heterotrophic eukaryotes as they do not
have chlorophyll and cannot prepare their own food by photosynthesis. They live as saprophytes, parasites and symboints.
(b)The cell has well
defined nucleus and organelles. Cell wall is made of chitin, a complex
nitrogen containing sugar that imparts toughness to cell wall.
(c) Mostly
multicellular, only yeast is unicellular.
