In 1952, the Mudaliar Commission was appointed. The Secondary Education Commission was appointed under the chairmanship of Dr. L. S. Mudaliar, and so it is called as Mudaliar Commission. At that time, the pattern of education consisted of 11+4 years for the first degree or of the 11+1+3 years.
