We should not judge people we do not know well enough!. First impressions, appearances, sixth sense , etc. can be misleading.
"Do not judge by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat"
Scottish Proverb.
“When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.”
– Earl Nightingale
"Never judge a book by its cover"
-English Proverb
In society it is a general behaviour to be materialistic. All of us tend to be very materialistic in our thinking, whether we like it or not. So people tend to give more importance to a person's bank balance than other aspects. Money is one of the most important aspects of life. Everyone needs money to survive and lead a comfortable standard of living. Money is needed for education, to build homes, to live life comfortably and also in times of emergency. It is an established fact that along with money, what you own because of it is also very important. It is also important to give credit to a person who has worked hard to earn money.
It is not right to judge a man by what he has and not by what king of person he is. Often we have seen people praising someone they know and being extra sweet, almost subservient to people who have a lot of wealth. They tend to look at people superficially and ignore the qualities that the person may or may not possess.
For example, if you do not talk to the person and do not take time to understand his positive qualities and just try to please the person because of his wealth, you may never know what kind of person he or she is. They may be really interesting and food people, but you may never find out. On the contrary it is also not right if a person is not so good and one has made a positive opinion about that person just because of the large bank balance the person possesses.
Another side to the story is not behaving properly and treating people very badly just because they do not own money or wealth of any sort. It is often seen that rich people are looked at differently as compared to the poor people. When rich people are around, there are some individuals who tend to ignore the less fortunate ones and also treat them badly. This often happens which is not right. Poor people may also have negative attributes, but you must respect and treat a person according to what he or she is.
Human psychology tends to be like this even if we like it or not. So, individually we need to make more effort to understand people before forming an opinion about them. We need to look beyond the wealth and see for ourselves what sort of people we are engaging with. Also, if we come to know what the person is like, we can avoid such people that we personally feel have a lot of negative attributes, irrespective of their bank balance. Therefore, we need to judge a man by what he is and not by what he has.
