Question

H2O contains hydrogen and oxygen but it is a pure substance. How?

Solution
Verified by Toppr

A mixture is formed when two or more substances combine physically.
However, in H2O, two hydrogen atoms combine with one oxygen atom chemically, forming a new substance that has properties different from hydrogen and oxygen.
Therefore H2O is not a mixture but a compound and it is pure.
