The mansabdars governed and commanded the armies in the emperor’s name. The system (Mansabdari Syatem) was introduced by the emperor Akbar. For the maintenance of the army, the mansabdars received a salary, which emperor paid in cash but later they used to get their salary in form of the revenue generated from the land assigned to them.
