Question

Mass of an object is 20kg. Find its weight on the surface of the earth and on the moon. (g of Earth =10ms2)

Solution
Verified by Toppr

As we know a body's weight is the product of its mass and acceleration acting on it i.e
W=ma

given, m=20kg
here acceleration (a) would be g=10m/s²
{because on Earth a body experiences acceleration and due to gravity (g)}

so, weight of the body on Earth is
W=20×10=200kg

as we know,
weight on moon=16 weight on earth

so weight on moon=2006=33.33kg
