Carbon credits mean certificates granting the right to beholder to emit 1 tonne of carbon dioxide or its equivalent. These are generally awarded to groups or countries that have reduced greenhouse gases emissions below their quota. The carbon credit system was ratified in conjunction with Kyoto protocol and is aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
