In p-type semiconductors, the trivalent impurity atoms are introduced to an intrinsic semiconductor. Hence, a hole is introduced due to each impurity atom. Hole has a tendency to accept an electron from neighbouring atom. Thus, the impurity is an acceptor impurity and all the energy level corresponding to acceptor atoms is acceptor level.
