Endangered animals or species are those whose numbers are at a critically low level and can be extinct in near future. The Asian Wild Ass, once in wide existence, now finds itself on the brink of extinction due to loss of habitat.
The Lemurs Idri idri are the inhabitants of Madagascar and the Comoro Islands. It is an endangered species. The primary threats to its existence are habitat destruction and fragmentation due to slash and burn agriculture, fuelwood gathering and logging.
Lion-tailed macaque is endemic to the Western Ghats hill ranges in southwestern India from the Kalakkadu Hills north to Anshi Ghat in the states of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The major threat to this species today is habitat fragmentation.
The addax is a critically endangered species of antelope, as classified by the IUCN. Although, extremely rare in its native habitat due to unregulated hunting, it is quite common in captivity.
