The Ahom kingdom was established in 1228 CE when Sukaphaa, a Shan prince of Mong Mao entered the Brahmaputra valley. The Ahom dynasty lasted from 1228 to 1826 CE. The last ruler of this dynasty was Purandar Singha, a 10 yr old who came into office because his fathers was mutilated. The rule of this dynasty ended with the Burmese invasion of Assam and the signing treaty of Yandaboo in 1826 CE led to subsequent annexation by the British East India Company.
