Gamma rays are typically emitted by the daughter nuclei produced as a result of alpha and/or beta decay of parent nuclei. The daughter nuclei produced from alpha and/or beta decay are generally excited (high energy state) and emit a gamma ray photon to come back to stable energy state. Therefore, in gamma decay, there is no change in neutron and proton number (because these particles do not undergo any reaction in the process).
