Plural word forms
As kids, we always wanted more of anything that was given to us.
Like if we had one chocolate or toy we always wanted more. One was never enough.
Similarly when it comes to many things in English, just one is not enough.
So in order to multiply these things we use plurals.
In order to change a singular word to plural, we usually add an “s” at the end of the word
here is a list of some words which take an “s” at the end to become plural
But this is not always the case…..
Not all singular words take an ‘s’ at the end of the word when we make it plural.
Words which do not take an “s” when we make it plural are called irregular plurals.
Let us take a look at the most common irregular plural forms.
To make a plural of a word ending in ‘f’ change the ‘f’ to ‘v’ and add ‘es’.
Similarly, if a word ends in ‘fe’ change the ‘f’ to ‘v’ and add an ‘s’.
As a result both kinds of plurals will end in ‘ves’.
