Assertion :Sulphur underlying can be digged out by sinking mining shafts. Reason: Frasch process is a method devised to obtain maximum pure sulphur.
  1. Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
  2. Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion
  3. Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect
  4. Assertion is incorrect but Reason is correct

A
Both Assertion and Reason are correct and Reason is the correct explanation for Assertion
B
Both Assertion and Reason are correct but Reason is not the correct explanation for Assertion
C
Assertion is incorrect but Reason is correct
D
Assertion is correct but Reason is incorrect
Solution
Verified by Toppr

The areas in which Sulphur are found have large deposition of quick sand. Due to this, Shaft sinking is not possible in their area. Hence sinking shaft mining cannot be used for digging sulphur. So, Assertion is false.
Frasch process is the only industrial method to extract Sulphur from underground deposit.
In this process, Sulphur is melted and then solidified. Hence the sulphur obtained is very base(99.7-99.8 %)
Hence assertion is base and reason is true.
