Question

In photo-electric effect, the photo-electric current

  1. Increases when the frequency of incident photon increases
  2. Does not depend upon the photon frequency but depends on the intensity of incident beam
  3. Depends both on the intensity and frequency of the incident beam.
  4. Decreases when the frequency of incident photon decreases

A
Decreases when the frequency of incident photon decreases
B
Depends both on the intensity and frequency of the incident beam.
C
Increases when the frequency of incident photon increases
D
Does not depend upon the photon frequency but depends on the intensity of incident beam
Solution
Verified by Toppr

The current in the photoelectric effect is dependent on the intensity of incident light and independent of the frequency of incident light because as intensity increases the number of electrons ejecting the metal surface per second increases whereas on changing frequency there is no change in current.
