Question

Two metals A and B have work functions 4eV and 10eV respectively. Which metal has the higher threshold wavelength?

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Work function $$W=hv_0=\dfrac{hc}{\lambda_0}$$
$$\Rightarrow \lambda_0\propto \dfrac{1}{W}$$
As $$W_A<W_B;(\lambda_0)_A>(\lambda_0)_B$$
i.e., threshold wavelength of metal A is higher.
