Question

Write an equation, in the slope intercept form of the line passing through the points (2,3) and (4,6)

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Since slope of line passing through two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is m=y2y1x2x1
We now find the slope of the line passing through the points (2,3) and (4,6) as shown below:
m=6342=32
Therefore, the slope of the line is 32.
Now use the slope and point (2,3) to find the y-intercept.
y=mx+b3=(32×2)+b3=3+bb=33=0
Write the equation in slope intercept form as:
y=mx+b
y=32x+0y=32x
Hence, the equation of the line is y=32x..
