Question

A right circular cylinder is $$3m$$ high and the circumference of its base is $$22 m$$. Find its curved surface area.

Given: Circumference of base of cylinder $$= 22 m$$
height of cylinder $$= 3m$$

$$\because$$ Circumference of base $$= 2 \pi r$$ [$$r$$ is the radius]

$$22 = 2 \times \dfrac{22}{7} \times r$$

$$\Rightarrow r = \dfrac{7}{2} m$$

Curved surface area of cylinder $$= 2 \pi rh$$

$$= 2 \times \dfrac{22}{7} \times \dfrac{7}{2} \times 3 = 66 m^2$$

$$\boxed{\text{Hence, curved surface area is } 66 m^2}$$
