Question

A 800 W electrical device is designed to work in 200 V. What will be its power if the device is working in 100 V?

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Resistance of the appliance

$$R= \dfrac{V^2}{P} = \dfrac{200 \times 200}{800}= 50 \ \Omega$$

Power when connected in 100 V

$$P= \dfrac{V^2}{R}= \dfrac{100 \times 100}{50}$$

$$= 200 \ W$$
