Question

A and B are two alloys of gold and copper prepared by mixing metals in the ration 7:2 and 7:11 respectively. If equal quantities of the alloys are melted to form a third alloy C, the ratio of gold and copper in C will be
  1. 5:7
  2. 7:5
  3. 9:5
  4. 5:9

A
5:7
B
9:5
C
5:9
D
7:5
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Since we mix equal quantities, we take LCM of 9 and 18 =18.
Then we have 14+4 in the first and 7+11 in the second.
Required ratio =(14+7):(4+11)=21:15=7:5.
