Question

A body P moving with a velocity of 20ms1 collides with another body Q of same mass at rest. After collision P comes to rest. What is the velocity of the body Q ?

  1. 20ms1
  2. 10ms1
  3. 30ms1
  4. 5ms1

A
5ms1
B
20ms1
C
10ms1
D
30ms1
Solution
Verified by Toppr

By using momentum conservation,we get,
m1u1+m2u2=m1v1+m2v2
But m1=m2=m,u1=20ms1,u2=0ms1,v1=0ms1,v2=?
m×20+m×0=m×0+m×v2
v2=20ms1.
