It is given that

M.P of a car $$= ₹\,50,000$$

Discount at the rate of $$5\%$$ on first $$₹\,20,000 = (20,000 \times 5)/ 100 = ₹\,1000$$

Discount at the rate of $$2\%$$ on remaining $$₹\, 30,000 = (30,000 \times 2)/ 100 = ₹\,600$$

Total discount$$= 1000 + 600 = ₹\,1600$$
