Question

A car travels a distance of $$1280$$ meters at an average speed of $$64$$ kilometers per hour.
Calculate the time it takes for the car to travel this distance.
Give your answer in seconds.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Let $$d$$ is distance covered by a car
$$v$$ is average speed of the car

$$\therefore d=1280m$$
$$\therefore d=1.280km$$

We know that, $$speed=\frac { distance }{ time } $$

$$\therefore time=\frac { distance }{ speed } $$

$$\therefore t=\frac { d }{ v } $$

$$\therefore t=\frac { 1.280 }{ 64 } hr$$

$$\therefore t=\frac { 1.280 }{ 64 } \times 3600\quad sec$$

$$\therefore t=\frac { 1.280\times 1000 }{ 64\times 1000 } \times 3600\quad sec$$

$$\therefore t=\frac { 1280 }{ 640 } \times 36\quad sec$$

$$\therefore t=2\times 36\quad sec$$

$$\therefore t=72\quad sec$$
