Verified by Toppr

A certain of steam generated has following properties.

pressure=P=24.8atm valueV=2.0L

Temperature =1200C+273=393K

n=PVRt=24.8×20.0821×393=1.53mole.....(i)

Amount of compound taken =54.29

Mole man of compound (MgSO4.xH2O)

M=24+32+4×16+x×18

120+18x

No.of mole of water =54.2120+18x......(ii)

Comparing equation (i) and (ii)

1.537=54.2120+18x

184.47+27.67x=54.2x

184.47=26.53x

x=184.4726.53=6.957

Hence, the correct option is D

A compound exists in the gaseous phase both as a monomer (A) and as a dimer (A2). The molecular mass of A is 48 g mol1. In an experiment, 96 g of compound was confined in a vessel of volume 33.6 L and heated to 273C. Calculate the pressure (in atm, rounded off to the nearest integer) developed if the compound exists as a dimer to the extent of 50% by weight under these conditions.
