Question

A closed cylindrical tank, made of thin iron-sheet, has diameter 8.4 m and height 5.4 m. How much metal sheet to the nearest m2 is used in making this tank, if 115 of the sheet actually used was wasted in making the tank ?
  1. 272m2
  2. 270m2
  3. 235m2
  4. 240m2

A
235m2
B
240m2
C
272m2
D
270m2
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Given diameter =8.4 m
We know, diameter =2× radius
radius =4.2 m
Also given, height =5.4 m
total surface area of cylinder =2πr(r+h)cm2
=2(3.14)(4.2)(4.2+5.4)=253.44
