Assertion :A colloidal solution scatters light but a true solution does not. Reason: The particles in a colloidal solution move slowly than in a true solution.
  1. Assertion and reason both are correct statements and reason is correct explanation for assertion.
  2. Assertion and reason both are correct statements but reason is not correct explanation for assertion.
  3. Assertion is correct statement but reason is wrong statement.
  4. Assertion is wrong statement but reason is correct statement.

A

B
Assertion is wrong statement but reason is correct statement.
C
Assertion and reason both are correct statements but reason is not correct explanation for assertion.
D
Assertion and reason both are correct statements and reason is correct explanation for assertion.
Solution
Verified by Toppr

A colloidal solution shows Tyndall effect (scattering of light) while a true solution does not. This is not related to the fact that its particles move slowly than in a true solution. Tyndall effect happens because the particles in the colloid are big enough to scatter the beam of light passing through it, thus making its path visible.
