Question

A compound microscope has a magnification 30. The focal length of eyepiece is 5 cm. Assuming that the final image is formed at least distance of distinct vision (25 cm). Find the magnification produced by objective.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

Given,

Magnification,M=30

Focal length, f=5 cm

Final distance, D=25 cm

In a compound microscope, M=mo×me

Thus,

30 = mo(1+Df)

30 = mo(1+255)

Thus, mo=5
