Question

A conical water tank has a radius of 0.2 mm and height of 1.2 mm, find total surface area of the tank.
  1. 0.9734 cm
  2. 0.9734 mm
  3. 0.9734 cm2
  4. 0.9734 mm2

A
0.9734 mm
B
0.9734 cm
C
0.9734 cm2
D
0.9734 mm2
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Given, radius r=0.2 mm and height h=1.2 mm .

Then, slant height is:
s2=h2+r2
s2=1.22+0.22
s2=1.44+0.4
s=(1.84)
s=1.35 mm.

So, surface area of a cone =πrs+πr2
=3.14×0.2×1.35+3.14×0.2×0.2
=0.8478+0.1256
=0.9734 mm2.

Therefore, option D is correct.
