Question

A cyclist moving in circular track leans towards the center:
  1. To gain in momentum
  2. To gain necessary centripetal force
  3. To gain necessary centrifugal force
  4. To gain speed

A
To gain necessary centrifugal force
B
To gain speed
C
To gain necessary centripetal force
D
To gain in momentum
Solution

A cyclist moving in circular track leans towards the center because ifhe keeps himself upright then it will result in skidding because the only centripetal force would be the frictional force because mg and N would cancel each other, is since their velocity is quite high so it is dangerous to rely upon only frictional force i.e they need some other centripetal force .While bending a component of N also provides the centripetal force .Thus he can take a turn .
