Question

A cylinder has a diameter of 20 cm. The area of the curved surface is 100 cm2(sq.cm).

Find:

(i) the height of the cylinder correct to one decimal place.

(ii) the volume of the cylinder correct to one decimal place.

Solution

diameter = 20 cm
radius = 202 = 10 cm
curved surface area = 100 cm2
we know,
227 × r × l = curved surface area
therefore, 227 × 10 × l =100
l = 10010 × 722
l =3511
= 3.78
we know,
slant height2=height2 + radius2
height = 9.2 cm
volume = 227 × r2 × h
= 227 × 10 × 10 × 9.2
=2891.4 cm3
height = 9.2 and volume = 2891.4 cm3
