Question

A data has highest value 120 and the lowest value 71.A frequency distribution in descending order with seven classes is to be constructed. The limits of the second class interval shall be
  1. 77 and 78
  2. 113 and 120
  3. 78 and 85
  4. 85 and 113

A
77 and 78
B
113 and 120
C
78 and 85
D
85 and 113
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Range of Frequency distribution=Highest Value-Lowest value
=12071=49

Dividing this into Seven (7) equal classes.

497=7

Thus the class width should be 7

Now arranging in descending order

Class interval 1(1207)to 120113120

Class interval 2(1137)to 113106113

Hence class interval 1 and 2 is 113 and 120

The following are the marks obtained in Maths by students of Class 8:
51, 94, 34, 20, 50, 81, 81, 90, 76, 34, 51, 86, 93, 99, 26, 54, 85, 71, 88, 40, 44, 56, 55, 57, 78, 53, 81, 78, 65, 78.
The data have to be grouped to find the mean marks. One of the class intervals made is 60-70.
