A dealer sells an article at 5% higher price.If the article is purchased at 10% less cost and sold for Rs.156 less than there is a profit of 15%. Find the cost price of the article.

Solution

Suppose the CostPrice of the article is Rs.100.
SellingPrice (at 5% higher price) =Rs.105

If it is purchased at 10% less CP=10010=Rs.90
at 15% profit,
SP =90×100+15100=90×115100=Rs.103.50
Difference in the two selling price =105103.50=Rs.1.50
If the difference in the S.P is Rs.1.50 then the CP is Rs.100
If the difference in the S.P is Rs.156 then the CP is 1001.50×156=Rs.10400
