Question

A die is thrown once. Find the probability of getting a number greater than $$2$$.

Solution
Verified by Toppr

In a throw of a dice,
Possible outcomes $$=\left\{1,2,3,4,5,6\right\}$$
Total number of possible outcomes $$=6$$

Now,
Favorable outcomes= number greater than $$2=\left\{3,4,5,6\right\}$$
Number of favorable outcomes $$=4$$

Probability is given by,
$$\displaystyle P(A)$$$$=\dfrac{\text{no. of possible outcomes}}{\text{No. of total outcomes}}$$

$$P$$ (a number greater than $$2$$) $$=\dfrac 46=\dfrac23$$
