Question

A man buys m articles at Rs. x each and another n articles for Rs. y. If he sells all the articles at Rs. z per article, frame an equation to find his profit
  1. (mx+n)z(mx+y)
  2. (m+n)x(mx+y)
  3. (m+n)zx(mx+y)
  4. (mn+x)z(mx+y)

A
(m+n)zx(mx+y)
B
(mx+n)z(mx+y)
C
(m+n)x(mx+y)
D
(mn+x)z(mx+y)
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Cost price of m articles at Rs. x each =m×x=mx Rs

Cost price of n articles for Rs y Rs. =y Rs

Total Cost Price (CP) =mx+y Rs

Now, Total (m+n) articles sold at z per article.

Therefore, Total selling price (SP) =(m+n)×z

Profit=SPCP=(m+n)z(mx+y)
