Question

A photon was absorbed by a hydrogen atom in its ground state and the electron was promoted to the fifth orbit. When the excited atom returned to its ground state, visible and other quanta were emitted. Other quanta are:
  1. 21
  2. 52
  3. 31
  4. 41

A
31
B
41
C
21
D
52
Solution
Verified by Toppr

According to question electron goes to the fifth after excitation and returned to the ground state and photon releases in visible region and one other
For emission of photon in visible region it must be goes in Balmer series or follow 5 2 or 4 2 or 3 2 transition.
Then this electron goes to ground state so it must be follow 2 1 transition only.
