Question

A ray of light is incident on a glass slab making an angle of 600 with the surface. Calculate the angle of refraction in glass and the velocity of light in glass if the refractive index of glass and the velocity of light in air are 1.5 and 3.0 x 108 m/s respectively.
  1. 2830, 3×108ms1
  2. 3515,2×108ms1
  3. 4020,2.5×108ms1
  4. 2830,2.5×108ms1

A
3515,2×108ms1
B
2830,2.5×108ms1
C
4020,2.5×108ms1
D
2830, 3×108ms1
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Using Snell's law :

μ1sin i=μ2sin r

1×sin60=1.5×sin r

r=3515

And Vglass=cμ

=3×1081.5 m/s

=2×108 m/s
