Question

A road map represents an actual distance of 18 km by 1 cm in it. If a boy drives a road for 216 km, what would be the corresponding distance covered in the map ?
  1. 12
  2. 11
  3. 21
  4. 22

A
11
B
12
C
21
D
22
Solution
Verified by Toppr

The distance on the road is directly proportional to the distance on the map

Let acm be the distance on the map for distance 216km
So, 18:216=1:a

Applying the rule, product of extremes = product of means

18×a=216×1

a=21618

a=12

Hence, the distance on the map for 218km is 12cm
