Question

A rod of length 10 cm lies along the principal axis of a concave mirror of focal length 10 cm in such away that the end closer to the pole is 20 cm away from it. Find the length of the image.
  1. 2 cm
  2. 4 cm
  3. 6 cm
  4. 5 cm

A
4 cm
B
6 cm
C
2 cm
D
5 cm
Solution
Verified by Toppr

The position of image of nearer end to mirror can be found out using mirror equation,
1v+1u=1f
1v1=120110
v2=20

Similarly position of image of farther end to mirror can be found out as
=1v2=1(10+20)110
v2=15

Hence the length of the image =20cm15cm=5cm
