The electric field lines due to a point charge are always originating point as the charge itself directing to infinity in throughout the 3-D space , so equipotential surface will be hypothetical spheres (having centres at point charge ) and electric field lines are radially perpendicular to its surface as shown in figure.
On the other hand equipotential surface in capacitor will be parallel to plates and perpendicular to electric field.
