A vessel at 100K contains CO2 with a pressure of 0.5atm. Some of the CO2 is converted into CO on the addition of graphite.
If the value of Kp is x, Find 10x.Total pressure at equilibrium is 0.8atm.

Solution
Verified by Toppr
CO2(g)+C(s)⇌2CO(g)
Initial pressure 0.500 Final pressure (0.5−P)02P
Total pressure at equilibrium =0.8=0.5−P+2P
∴P=0.3atm
∴P′CO2=0.5−0.3=0.2atm P′CO=2×(0.3)=0.6atm
∴Kp=(P′CO)2P′CO2=(0.6)2(0.2)=1.8atm
x=1.8
∴10x=18
