Question

A vessel is in the form of hemispherical bowl surmounted by a hollow cylinder of same diameter. The diameter of the hemispherical bowl is 14 cm and the total height of the vessel is 13 cm. Find the total surface area of the vessel. [Useπ=227]

Radius =7 cm
Height of cylindrical portion =137=6 cm

Curved surface are of cylindrical portion can be calculated as follows:
2πrh
=2×227×7×6
=264cm2

Curved surface area of hemispherical portion can be calculated as follows:
2πr2
=2×227×(7)2
=308cm2

Then, total surface area of the vessel =308+264=572 sq cm
