Question

A wave in a string has an amplitude of 2cm. The wave travels in the +ve direction of x-axis with a speed of 128ms1 and it is noted that 5complete waves fit in 4m length of the string. The equation describing the wave is
  1. y=(0.02)msin(7.85x+1005t)
  2. y=(0.02)msin(15.7x20105t)
  3. y=(0.02)msin(15.7x+20105t)
  4. y=(0.02)msin(7.85x1005t)

A
y=(0.02)msin(7.85x1005t)
B
y=(0.02)msin(7.85x+1005t)
C
y=(0.02)msin(15.7x20105t)
D
y=(0.02)msin(15.7x+20105t)
Solution
Verified by Toppr

Amplitude =2cm=0.02m

v=128m/s

5λ=4λ=45=0.8m

ν=1280.8=160Hz

ω=2πν=2π×160=1005

k=2πλ=2π0.8=7.85

Therefore,

y=0.02sin(7.85x1005t)
