A Zener diode is connected to a battery and a load as shown. The currents I, IZ and IL are respectively
99259.jpg
  1. 12.5mA,5mA,7.5mA
  2. 15mA,7.5mA,7.5mA
  3. 15mA,7.5mA,5mA
  4. 12.5mA,7.5mA,5mA

A
12.5mA,5mA,7.5mA
B
12.5mA,7.5mA,5mA
C
15mA,7.5mA,7.5mA
D
15mA,7.5mA,5mA
Solution
Verified by Toppr

As long as the Vin is greater than the zener Voltage 10V, the zener is in breakdown region and hence the voltage across the load remains constant. The series limiting resistance 4kΩ limits the input current.
Current in load IL=102×103=5mA
Voltage drop across the 4kΩ is 6010=50V
Hence I=504×103=12.5mA
Hence, IZ=IIL=12.55=7.5mA
