Fossil fuel represents a reservoir of carbon. Carbon cycling occurs through the atmosphere, ocean and through living and dead organisms. Decomposers also contribute substantially to CO2 pool by their processing of waste materials and dead organic matter of land or oceans. Carbon constitutes 49 percent of dry weight of the organism. Out of total global carbon, 70 percent carbon is found dissolved in the ocean.
